Box Factory offers color linocut workshops
ST. JOSEPH — A four-week series of color linocut workshops begins April 8 at the Box Factory for the Arts Print Shop, 1101 Broad St.
Taught by Hank Mattson, classes are from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 8, 15, 22 and 29.
Workshop participants will be instructed on two methods of color block printing using linoleum: reductive printing, followed by multiple blocks.
Participants will have time to cut and print during class time. All supplies will be furnished.
Mattson is an interdisciplinary artist living in Kalamazoo, where he relocated from Utah for a residency at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. He earned his bachelor of fine arts degree from Northern Arizona University and studied Italian art and culture in Siena, Italy.
He will also offer a series of workshops on basic Intaglio printmaking in May and will have an exhibit of his work at the Box Factory in the fall.
Cost is $165; $150 for members.
