Best Disney First Chapter Lorcana Cards, Ranked
Disney's new trading card game, Lorcana, has released its first set called The First Chapter. Here is a list of the best cards currently available.
The new collectible trading card game from Disney and Ravensburger, Disney Lorcana, has released its first set of cards called The First Chapter. In this set are over 200 cards for players to collect and build decks from, featuring characters, items, and references from its 100-year history. There are going to be some fan-favorite cards thanks to the beautiful artwork on each card, but also because some cards have incredible abilities and benefits for use during a game.
Cards are categorized into ink types (and each ink is designed with a basic strategy in mind), but they are all designed to win. Within those sets of inks are cards that are catered to specific play styles, so there are top cards in each ink type that perform extremely well. With a limitation of only one or two ink types in a single playable deck, players must look within each type to find the best cards for their decks. Additionally, there are some cards that may be strong enough to sway players to choose a certain ink type when constructing their deck.

There are Glimmers that players will want to keep in play for extended periods of time, and while those cards may have some high Willpower, opponents will focus on them to banish them from play and eliminate their abilities. Thankfully, with an item card like Magic Golden Flower, players can heal up their Glimmers to keep them in the fight.
Magic Golden Flower has a super low cost of 1 ink to be played and lets players remove up to 3 damage from a chosen character. The only caveat is that the card must be banished in order to perform the healing ability. Players will want to keep a few of these cards in their deck for intense battles.
The Goofy - Musketeer card is part of the Amber ink set and is classified as a Dreamborn Hero. Goofy has an ink cost of 5, so he will require a little patience to play him during the game. However, he also has a high Willpower of 6, so it will take a strong attack to banish him. He offers only 1 Lore point for questing, but Goofy's real strength comes from his ability.
This card is a Bodyguard card, meaning it can protect other cards that are being challenged. It can enter play in an exerted state, and when an opposing character challenges they must choose one of the player's cards with a bodyguard. Goofy's ability "And Two For Tea!" is also extremely beneficial because once he is played, the player can remove up to 2 damage from each of their musketeer cards.

While it may seem terribly simple, the Action card Break can be extremely useful at the right time. Quite simply, the Break card, which falls into the Steel ink type, allows the player to banish an item card. When item cards are played, they stay in play and continue to grant benefits to other cards and the player.
They are only removed if the card instructs to do so, or through an action card such as Break. There are some powerful item cards so playing Break to eliminate those cards from play can help turn the tide of the battle. It has a low ink cost of only two as well, so players can easily become like Beast and throw a tantrum, breaking whichever item they choose.
The Mickey Mouse - Artful Rogue card is very useful as a normal playable card or in a more strategic role. It falls into the Emerald ink type, and has a high summoning cost of 7 ink. However, if players already have a Mickey Mouse card in play, Artful Rogue can be summoned and played on top of that card for only 5 ink.
This card has an ability called "Misdirection" which, when it is in play and an action card is used, the player may choose an opposing character and prevent them from questing on their next turn. This ability can be used to stop the opposing player from getting their last few Lore points near the end of a game. This card also has good Strength and Willpower stats of 6 and 5 respectively, while also giving the player 2 Lore points if they use him to go questing.
The Sword of Truth card is an item card that falls into the Ruby ink type and has a decent ink cost of 4 to be played. It is a very simple card that has only one purpose, banishing evil foes. It cannot be discarded for ink, but can be discarded in order to activate its ability, "Final Enchantment." In a heroic act of self-sacrifice, players must banish the Sword of Truth.
It is quickly summoned to be quickly tossed away, but that act allows the player to banish any opposing villain character. There is no limitation to this, and the player can pick any villain character their opponent has in play and immediately banish them, meaning an extremely buffed-up villain can be done away with in a single action.

It's important to fill a deck with supporting cards along with powerful Glimmers and action cards. Support cards can boost the stats or abilities of cards which can help in terms of defense or attack. Chief Tui - Respected Leader has a very high ink cost of 7 to be played, but he has several benefits. The first is that if he is used to go questing, the player receives 3 Lore points, which is a hefty amount.
He also has a high Willpower, so he can take a good amount of damage from challenges before being banished. His Strength is only 3, but because of his "Support" ability, players can add his 3 Strength to another character while he is questing.
The Elsa - Spirit of Winter card is a great card to play with a bit of strategy. Her surface stats are great, but using her ability at the right time can help players push forward and get ahead of their opponents. Falling under the Amethyst ink type, this card has a very high cost of 8 ink to be summoned, however, if a player has an Elsa card already in play, the Spirit of Winter card can be "Shifted" and summoned for only 6 ink.
When played, this card allows the player to exert up to 2 of their opponent's characters, meaning they won't be able to ready up at their next turn. Elsa - Spirit of Winter also has a nice 3 points of Lore awarded for questing, and has a high Willpower stat of 6, so she can absorb a lot of incoming challenges.
When Tinker Bell gets mad, she gets big. The Tinker Bell - Giant Fairy card captures that overgrown power wonderfully in the art and the card's abilities. This card is classified in the Steel ink type and has a rather high cost of 6 ink in order to be summoned. However, that high cost has a large payoff. Tinker Bell has a moderate Strength of 4 and a good Willpower of 5, but it's her two abilities that make her a powerful Glimmer.
"Rock The Boat" is great to use when an opponent has multiple Glimmers in play, as when Tinker Bell is played, she deals 1 damage to each opposing character. Not only that, but when challenging with her and banishing an opponent Glimmer, the player can deal 2 extra damage to an opposing character of their choice. Buffing her Strength with item cards can make her stronger, but even unmodified, Tinker Bell - Giant Fiary is a must-have card in any player's deck.
The Simba - Returned King card is part of the Steel ink type, and is one of the most powerful cards for executing challenges. He has a very high ink cost of 7 for summoning him, but that high cost is worth it as he has high stats and incredible abilities. He may only get a player 2 Lore points while questing, but he does have a high Willpower stat of 6, so he can take a lot of damage from opponent challenges.
When it comes to his own challenges, Simba - Returned King may look weaker with a Strength of 4, but his Challenger Trait gives him a boost of +4, pushing his Strength to an 8, a number high enough to banish nearly any foe. His other ability "Pounce" also means that Simba gains the "Evasive" trait, so he can also challenge characters with Evasive.

The Aladdin - Heroic Outlaw card really lives up to its name with its ability, but its normal stats also offer quite a lot to the player. Falling into the Ruby ink type, Aladdin - Heroic Outlaw has a high summoning cost of 7 ink, but, like some other cards, has the "Shift" trait, so it can be played on top of an already-in-play Aladdin card for only 5 ink.
He offers an even 5 points for both Strength and Willpower and awards 2 Lore points for questing. Players may want to buff Heroic Outlaw with items to raise those stats because its ability "Daring Exploit" means that whenever this card banishes an opposing character in a challenge, the player gains 2 Lore points and the opponent loses 2 Lore points. The longer Heroic Outlaw stays in play, the more it can help, or be a threat.
